Dear Abbi: A Breakdown Of What She Does + How It Could Help You

Hi guys! I'm Abbi. You've probably seen me on Lorena's Instagram stories or popping up in photoshoots. I'm mostly known as Lorena's "right hand lady", and we get so many questions about what it is exactly that I do here. This makes me laugh, because throughout my career it's always been so difficult to explain my job to friends and family. I like to think of myself as a Swiss army knife, I do a little bit of everything to keep a business running smoothly. My specialty is fashion marketing and public relations, but with Lorena I get to do a little bit more outside of that, which I love.

Before I came to Dear Lash + Love I specialized in digital marketing, which meant a lot of sitting at a desk staring at graphs and spreadsheets. I'm definitely a numbers girl, and for a long time I really enjoyed it. I eventually started working in public relations in addition to digital marketing, which was a lot more fun, but I just don't have the PR-girl personality. Through a lot of soul-searching, I've learned that I do have a creative side to me and I actually prefer being able to work with my hands a little bit rather than staring at a screen all day. I'm sure a lot of you can relate on that one.

A lot of my responsibilities here are similar to what I've done in the past- I do run reports on sales, look at what products are selling/not selling, plan and publish social media content, plan email and newsletter content, coordinate brand partnerships, and help plan out collections and products. I also now get to work with Lorena on designs for tees, website design and management, blogs; I am actually shooting some content and doing some graphic design, as well as coordinating samples and production, and keeping things running around the office. Basically, I take a f*ck-ton of the day-to-day things off of Lorena's plate so she can focus on her coaching clients and big picture projects (including baby Jude).

I've always found myself working with entrepreneurial women who have created their empires from the ground up, and I've learned from watching them that even the strongest, most badass chicks can't do EVERYTHING alone. There are SO MANY things that go into running your own business, and once you hit a certain point in your growth trajectory it's nearly impossible to do it all yourself. As service providers (or, in Lorena's case, service providers-turned-online business owners), it's important not to burn yourself out so you still have something left to give your clients.

If you are reading this and you think you might be at the point where you're ready to hire someone- think about what you could take off your plate to make your life easier, and to show up as your best self for your clients. From there, you can start to look for what kind of help you need. Is it a receptionist to help with scheduling and bookkeeping? A social media manager to keep your accounts running in top shape? A nanny to watch your kids a few hours a week so you can get caught up on administrative tasks? It can be really daunting to reach the point where you feel like you need help but you don't know how to get it or where to look. Help will look different for each person and each business, but know that your Abbi is out there!
